Babs AI's Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 12, 2025

At Babs AI LLC, ("Babs" "we", "our" or "us"), we're committed to protecting your privacy and treating your personal information with care. As a company building AI tools to support households, we know that trust matters—especially when it involves your family's data. That's why we aim to be clear, thoughtful, and responsible in how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose personal information in connection with our services, and outlines the choices available to you. Our practices are designed to comply with applicable U.S. privacy laws, including CCPA, and to reflect our commitment to transparency, security, and user trust. By using our services, you acknowledge and agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect personal information to deliver, improve, and personalize our services. This includes:

From Users (Adults):

  • Name and email address (via Google SSO)
  • Email content and metadata (subject, body, sender)
  • Calendar information (event titles, times, participants)

About Children (from Parents):

  • Information about your child that you choose to share with us—such as their name, school, grade level, teacher or classroom assignments, and any extracurricular activities.

Other Data:

  • Location information parsed from calendar events
  • Any information provided during onboarding or via connected tools
  • Incidental references to other individuals (e.g., children or educators) that appear in user-shared emails or calendars, processed solely to deliver requested services.

We collect this information from:

  • You directly (via onboarding, integrations, in-app actions, communications with our team)
  • Third-party services you authorize (e.g., Gmail, Google Calendar) used to parse email and calendar content
  • Your device or app platform, which may automatically provide limited technical data (like crash reports). We do not collect this information ourselves.

We do not collect government IDs or health data.

This information may fall into categories defined by U.S. state privacy laws, such as identifiers, internet activity, geolocation data, education information, and sensitive personal information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Deliver, personalize, and improve our AI assistant service
  • Generate to-dos, summaries, and reminders
  • Send transactional and service-related communications (e.g., account updates, feedback requests)
  • Respond to user inquiries and support requests
  • Analyze usage for service improvement

We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted by law (such as inferring characteristics or targeting advertising), and therefore the Right to Limit does not apply.

You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time via the link in the email or by contacting us at hello@hellobabs.ai.

3. How We Use AI

We use third-party AI models to help you stay on top of important events and tasks from your email and calendar. When you authorize access, your email and calendar data may be used to:

  • Identify upcoming events, deadlines, and tasks
  • Generate helpful summaries, reminders, and alerts
  • Enable natural language search and organize tasks semantically

To support these features, we may rely on trusted third-party AI services (such as OpenAI or similar). However:

  • These providers do not retain or train their models on your data
  • We do not use AI for automated decision-making that produces legal, financial, employment, or similarly significant effects
  • We generate and store embeddings (numerical representations of content) to enhance personalization and search—but these embeddings are used internally only and not shared for model training

Users remain in control of their data.

4. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as defined by CCPA).

We may disclose personal information to trusted service providers and processors who assist us in operating our services. These third parties are contractually required to use personal information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are prohibited from using it for their own independent purposes.

These may include:

  • Cloud infrastructure and hosting providers -- to support data storage, application performance, and service reliability
  • AI model and processing platforms -- to power features like smart suggestions, semantic search, and content generation
  • Authentication and security providers -- to enable secure user access and safeguard accounts
  • Product development and technical partners -- to support app functionality, testing, and user experience optimization
  • Communication and email delivery tools -- to send account notices, user messages, and transactional updates

We may use cookies or similar technologies on our website in the future and will provide a cookie notice and preference controls at that time.

5. Children's Data and Parental Consent

Our services are intended for adult users over 18 years of age. We do not knowingly allow children or under 13 to create accounts or use our services directly. Any child-related information is collected only from verified parents or guardians, who provide consent by linking and authorizing their account.

Parents or guardians may request to view or delete their child's data at any time by contacting privacy@hellobabs.ai. We respond to these requests within the timeframes required by applicable privacy laws.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide our services or meet legal obligations. If you request deletion, we will delete associated user and children's information from our systems unless retention is required by law.

7. Security

We take your privacy seriously and use safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or sharing. Access is limited to team members and partners who need it to support the service, and they are required to keep your data confidential.

If we ever identify a potential security issue, we have processes in place to respond quickly and will notify you if legally required.

8. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the following rights:

  • Right to Know: Request the categories or specific pieces of personal information we have collected
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Right to Opt-Out: Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell/share)
  • Right to Limit: This applies when companies use sensitive personal information for profiling or advertising—we don't use it that way.
  • Right to Request Removal: You can contact us if information about you or your child appears in another user's account and you'd like it removed.
  • Right to Appeal: If we deny a privacy rights request, you can appeal the decision

To make a request, email privacy@hellobabs.ai. We aim to respond within 45 days and will let you know if more time is needed. If we receive a request related to data that cannot be verified to belong to the requestor, we may be unable to fulfill it under applicable laws.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. If we make any significant changes, we'll let you know—either through the service, by email, or by other reasonable means.
