SF Recreation and Parks has city teams and girls divisions

The official SFRPD overview lists three coed divisions for ages 8–10, 11–13, and 14–16. It also lists all-girls divisions for ages 8–10 and 11–13. The live registration rows label those girls groups as grades 3–5 and 6–8.

One eligibility detail needs attention. The overview calls the girls league ages 8–13, while the senior registration rows accept players age 11 to under 15. A 14-year-old eighth-grader falls into that mismatch and should confirm eligibility with SFRPD before registration.

SFRPD requires two weekly trips. Team practices run for one hour on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, with start and finish times between 3 and 6:45 p.m. depending on the team. Games take place on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Potrero Hill Recreation Center or Upper Noe Recreation Center. The city describes the game as 5-on-5, non-contact, passing-only football with no running plays or blocking. Championship games are scheduled for October 31.

The practice locations are spread more widely than the two game fields:

• Girls teams: Crocker Amazon on Tuesday, Eureka Valley on Wednesday, Upper Noe on Thursday, and Potrero Hill on Friday.
• Coed teams: Balboa Park, Glen Canyon, Herz Playground, Margaret Hayward Playground, Palega Recreation Center, Potrero Hill, Sunset Recreation Center, Upper Noe, and Youngblood Coleman Playground.

Every team row showed $128.82 including a processing fee, with a note that the final price can vary by registration selections. All eight girls listings offered enrollment on September 8. Some coed teams still had space; others were full and offered a waiting-list route. SFRPD also has a scholarship application for low-income San Francisco residents.

United Sports is nearby in Daly City

United Sports calls this its San Francisco, South San Francisco, and Daly City league. Its listed field is Westmoor High School in Daly City, so it is a nearby option rather than a San Francisco-proper program.

The league serves kindergarten through eighth grade in four divisions: K–1, grades 2–3, grades 4–5, and grades 6–8. No experience is required. Practice and the game share one two-hour block each Sunday. The format is 5-on-5 NFL FLAG with volunteer parent coaches, playoffs, and a championship.

Fall registration closes at 12:00 a.m. on September 13, 2026. The season runs September 27 through November 8 and costs $150 for K–1 or $275 for grades 2–8. Winter registration closes at 12:00 a.m. on January 1, 2027 for a January 10–February 28 season at the same prices. The United general details add a nonrefundable $3 service fee to each transaction.

Registration includes a reversible jersey, shorts, mouthguard, flag belt, team placement, practices, games, playoffs, and championship participation. Families can submit buddy and coach requests, though placement is not guaranteed. The general program information says an all-girls division may be offered when numbers allow. The current Daly City fall and winter registration rows are grouped only by grade and do not confirm that a girls-only division will run.

SFPAL’s winter and spring sessions are separate

San Francisco PAL published two coed programs for ages 8–13 in 2026:

• Tenderloin winter session: Saturday instruction and pickup games at Civic Center Lawn from January 3 through February 28, with one January 24 session moved to Sunday, January 25. Ages 8–10 met at noon and ages 11–13 at 1 p.m. Registration is closed.
• Potrero Hill spring session: Seven one-hour Sunday sessions from April 5 through May 24 at Potrero Hill Park. Registration was free, first come, first served, and is closed.

SFPAL also mentions a fall team that competes in City League. Its page provides no fall 2026 dates and no enrollment route, so it is not a current registration option.

Familiar Bay Area names without a live San Francisco flag program

A regional brand page can look local while offering no current city registration. Three commonly found pages need that distinction:

• 49ers Flag lists fall 2026 girls, boys, and coed leagues elsewhere in the Bay Area. Its page has no current league card in San Francisco proper; the San Francisco item is a past City Hall community event.
• Next Level Sports held a grades 1–7 camp at Paul Goode Field from July 13–17, 2026. The camp ended, and its former listing no longer provides live San Francisco registration.
• i9 Sports at Paul Goode Field currently shows two soccer programs and one baseball program, with no flag-football program listed.

Match the program to the child and the weekly trip

United Sports is the only listed current option for children under eight, provided their grade fits its K–8 divisions. From age eight, children may also fit one of SFRPD’s published age bands. United keeps practice and the game together on Sunday. SFRPD uses a neighborhood weekday practice and Saturday games.

For confirmed girls-only play, SFRPD has eight current team listings across grades 3–8. Coed players ages 14–16 fit SFRPD’s JV division.

California also has a girls varsity pathway. The CIF flag football page carries current statewide rules and sport information. A confirmed local girls team is available through SFRPD, while the 49ers Flag girls listings are in other Bay Area cities.

What each program sends after registration

SFRPD: Registration attaches a player to a specific neighborhood team, and that team row contains the weekday practice location and time. The Saturday game schedule is a separate league resource. The registration page remains the source for team capacity, while the league page carries schedule resources.

United Sports: Team assignments go through the NFL FLAG portal. The general details page says the first Sunday includes a meet-and-greet and practice. Equipment is distributed in week one or week two depending on NFL inventory, and weather changes are sent by email.

Those provider messages need to be visible to the adults handling the week.
